What Types of Studies are Available?

Breast Cancer Treatment

These trials are investigating cancer treatments that researchers think may be more effective or have fewer side effects, such as:
  • Radiation procedures that take less time or treat a smaller area of breast tissue.
  • Biological therapies that target proteins that help tumors grow.
  • Chemotherapy regimens that include new drugs or new drug combinations.
  • Hormone therapies for tumors fueled by estrogen.

Complementary and Alternative Medicine

These trials are investigating whether complementary and alternative approaches to cancer care, such as acupuncture, exercise, and diet, or certain herbs or supplements, can help reduce side effects that may be caused by cancer treatments or reduce the risk of a cancer recurrence.
